Grape Seed OPC is derived from the seeds of red grapes, which are naturally rich in compounds called oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs). These OPCs are potent antioxidants and belong to the broader family of flavonoids or polyphenols.

The interest in Grape Seed OPCs began with the “French Paradox,” a phenomenon highlighting France’s relatively low rates of heart disease despite a diet high in fats. This effect is largely attributed to the regular consumption of red wine. The cardiovascular benefits of red wine and red grape juice come from a mix of flavonoids, catechins, tannins, and proanthocyanidins—all present in high concentrations in red grapes.
